Fast bowler Ellie Falconer has joined the Melbourne Renegades.
The 22-year-old has signed a three-year deal which sees her locked in as a Renegade until the end of WBBL|09.
Falconer has spent the past four summers as part of the Adelaide Strikers squad but is yet to break through for a WBBL debut.
The South Australian was unavailable last season due to injury, after featuring regularly for her state in the WNCL in 2019-20.
But with a strong pre-season in the bank, Falconer is ready to make an impact in red in WBBL|07.
“I’m looking forward to this season and being a Renegade,” Falconer said.
“It’s been nice to have a full pre-season of training after missing a season of cricket. I see myself as an attacking bowler and I’ve been working on my pace, hitting the deck hard and trying to get a bit of bounce.
“I haven’t played a WBBL game yet, so that’s the first goal for me.
“Josie Dooley and Courtney Webb are also in the South Australia squad and they’ve told me it’s a really good team to be around, so I’m just excited to get to know everyone and be part of it.”
Melbourne Renegades Head Coach, Simon Helmot, said Falconer would bolster the Renegades’ bowling stocks.
“It’s great to have Ellie sign on as a Renegade for the next three seasons,” Helmot said.
“Ellie is an emerging fast bowler with a lot of potential. We see her adding another wicket-taking option to our line-up, and alongside Holly Ferling, she brings some extra pace to complement our bowling group.
“After missing last season through injury, we know Ellie is ready to make her mark and we look forward to seeing what she can do.”
Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said the squad was building nicely ahead of WBBL|07.
“We’re excited to welcome Ellie to the Renegades family. Our playing list is coming together well for this season, with a nice mix of experienced players and some really promising young talent.”
