Melbourne Renegades wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Harper was released from hospital this morning after a short period of observation.

Harper was substituted out of the Renegades match against the Hurricanes last night after landing awkwardly following an accidental collision with bowler Nathan Ellis.

Club Doctor Trefor James said:

“Sam left the field to undergo an initial assessment where it was deemed he had sustained concussion. He was then admitted to hospital for further observation and released a short time later.

“Sam is recovering well and we’ll continue to monitor his health over the coming days before determining a return to play date.”

Batsman Shaun Marsh suffered a grade one hamstring injury during the Renegades run chase.

Marsh underwent scans this morning which have confirmed the injury and he will miss the remainder of the BBL campaign.

Captain Aaron Finch and bowler Kane Richardson are set to return to the side for the clash against the Sydney Sixers on Saturday.
