Fast bowling all-rounder Jack Prestwidge has recommitted to the Melbourne Renegades for BBL|12.

Prestwidge has signed a one-year deal to remain in red for a third summer, after crossing from the Brisbane Heat ahead of the BBL|10 season.

The 26-year-old has played 24 BBL matches, with 14 of those coming over the past two years as a Renegade.

Prestwidge will be joined at the Renegades this year by his sister, Georgia, who recently signed a two-year deal with the club’s WBBL team.

“I’m excited to re-sign for another year with the Renegades and looking forward this season,” Prestwidge said.

“I’ve got some great relationships here, really enjoy being part of this playing group and know this is the right place for me to continue to develop as a player. We’re united in our belief that we can have success as a team this year and I want to be part of that journey.”

A hard-hitting batter, fast bowler and athletic fielder, Prestwidge featured six times in BBL|11. A cameo of 22 not out off 11 balls against the Perth Scorchers highlighting his ability to finish an innings.

“Jack’s had a taste of playing at this level over the past couple of seasons, has continued to develop his game and will no doubt be better for those experiences,” Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.

“We know Jack has the ability to impact games with bat, ball and in the field.

“We’ve got a lot of belief in the playing list we’re building for this season, and the balance of senior players and emerging talent. We have the right people in place to help those younger players develop into consistent Big Bash performers, which is exactly what we need to take our team forward.”

Prestwidge’s signing leaves the Renegades with three local player list spots to confirm for BBL|12.
