Melbourne Renegades batsman Joe Clarke has been ruled out for the rest of BBL|13 with injury.

Clarke suffered a leg injury running between the wickets while batting in the Renegades’ clash with the Strikers at Marvel Stadium on 29 December.

He retired hurt and was assessed in the rooms by the club physio, before returning to the crease deep in the innings to play a significant role in the Renegades’ successful run chase.

Clarke sat out of Tuesday’s Melbourne Derby while awaiting scans, the results of which have found the English recruit has suffered a high-grade tear, ending his BBL tournament prematurely.

Clarke will fly home in the coming days to begin rehab and prepare for his next white ball campaign.
