The Melbourne Renegades have drawn picks two and four in the upcoming WBBL and BBL drafts.
With the second-best possible result playing out for the WBBL draft, the Renegades drew pick number two and will now be able to select from a pool of the best international female cricketers ahead of WBBL|09.
Following a top 3 regular season finish last season, the lottery luck fell with the Renegades in securing a best-possible pick four selection in the BBL|13 draft.
“I love the whole lottery and draft process. It’s something that gives us access to the best players and really adds something to both of the WBBL and BBL competitions” General Manager Melbourne Renegades James Rosengarten said.
In securing the #2 pick for the WBBL draft, Rosengarten said “we’ve had great success with our overseas players over the last couple of years so we’ll pull our plans together over the coming weeks and be very ready for the draft at the start of September.
“To get pick four in the BBL draft was the best possible result for us. It’s higher than what we had expected and we’ve put a lot of work into our plans already with our recruiting team including David Saker, Nic Maddinson, our analysts and assistant coaches.”
Big Bash clubs also have the ability to trade their draft picks this year, adding another element of intrigue to the off-season before the drafts in early September.
