The Melbourne Renegades are proud to announce non-bank lender Liberty has signed on as the club’s new Principal Partner for the next three years.

Liberty first joined the Renegades last season as the club’s official WBBL partner and, highlighting the success of the initial partnership, the agreement has now been extended to cover both the WBBL and BBL teams.

Liberty Chief Executive James Boyle said the partnership signalled an exciting new chapter for the non-bank as it strengthens its partnership with the club.

“For more than two decades we have championed financial inclusion, innovation and flexibility. With our own renegade spirit, we challenged conventions and pioneered custom and alternative lending to help more Australians from all walks of life.

“The Gades, whose players are drawn from across Australia and overseas, share our culture of diversity and our free-thinking philosophy.”

Initially signing as WBBL partner in 2019, the alignment of supporting Australian families and a commitment to gender equity and inclusion was the hook for the partnership.

“We were proud to support the talented WBBL team for the first season in which the women’s league ran independently. The addition of the BBL team, combined with the strong brand appeal, makes it a natural next step to continue our support as principal sponsor,” Mr Boyle said.

As Principal Partner, Liberty branding will feature prominently on the Renegades BBL and WBBL playing uniform, training and club apparel, as well as being fully integrated in the club’s marketing and advertising collateral.

Melbourne Renegades BBL captain Aaron Finch said: “It’s great news for the club. Support from a Principal Partner like Liberty is fundamental to what we’re trying to achieve. On behalf of the playing group I’d like to thank Liberty for getting on board and supporting us and our many fans and members.”

Melbourne Renegades General Manager David Lever said the partnership is a significant outcome for the club.

“This a great story for the Renegades and BBL more broadly as one of the league’s most well-supported clubs. Our partnership with Liberty has continued to evolve over the first 12 months and we’re delighted they have chosen to become our principal partner for the next three years,” Lever said.

“This is a significant commitment from Liberty in what has been a difficult year for all Victorians. There is natural synergy in Liberty’s free-thinking approach and that of our club and we’re looking forward to what we can build together over the next three years.

“The Big Bash remains the highest rating domestic league in Australia. We know we offer families around the country a great experience and we look forward to working closely with Liberty over the next three years to ensure our club becomes further entrenched in the hearts and minds of our members and fans.”

The Melbourne Renegades open the rebel WBBL season on October 25 before the BBL season gets underway later this year.
