Star all-rounder Georgia Wareham will be the Melbourne Renegades vice-captain for WBBL|07.

It’s a brand-new leadership team for the Renegades this season, with the 22-year-old to support new captain Sophie Molineux and new coach Simon Helmot.

Like Molineux, Wareham has been a Renegade since the WBBL’s inception.

The leg-spinner has featured for Australia in 59 matches across all three formats, and in 62 matches for the Renegades.

“I’m pretty pumped. It’s exciting to be able to do whatever I can to help Soph out this year as the skipper,” Wareham said.

“I’m sure Jess Duffin is going to pretty helpful as well with her experience too.

“(I’ll be trying to lead) probably more by actions than anything. I’m happy to help out Soph and Helmo wherever I can.”

Despite a quick turnaround from the recent international series between Australia and India, Wareham said the Renegades group would gel together quickly.

Wareham, Molineux and Indian stars Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues arrived in Hobart on Monday night, with English signing Eve Jones linking up with the group on Wednesday after two weeks of quarantine.

“It is really important (to get along),” Wareham said.

“I think we’ve done that really well in past years as Renegades, I think we’ve all got on really well off the field and that goes a long way on the field as well.

“We’re all just really excited to get together as a group. It’s really exciting and we’re all looking forward to it.”

The Renegades will start their WBBL|07 campaign against the Hobart Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon at Blundstone Arena.
