The Melbourne Renegades are stoked to welcome Cameron White as its new BBL senior coach.

White, 40, joins the ‘Gades on a three-year deal and heads a coaching group recently complimented by the appointment of Wade Seccombe as the Club’s new T20 High Performance Manager.

“I’ve got so many great memories here, as a player and achieving success, so to be back in Renegades colours several years later is a thrill,” White said.

“The idea of working with this playing group, some really exciting players there, both young and experienced, is a really exciting.

“I’m really looking forward to ripping in and starting my journey as coach.”

The man they call “Bear” has always been a student of the game, his cricket nous and combative style has been shaped as a player and assistant coach for the better part of two decades.

While he’ll always be remembered as a key member of the BBL|08 Championship-winning team, White amassed 931 runs in 35 matches and four seasons to sit fifth on the Club’s batting honour roll.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Cameron on board,” Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.

“He’s a favourite son at the ‘Gades, his connection with our Club runs deep having contributed heavily to our story with the bat and by achieving the ultimate success.

“His knowledge of the game, particularly T20 cricket, is also undisputed. We completed a global search process to fill this role. Cam stood out with his vision for the Club and this playing group.”

Bursting onto the scene as a teenager – debuting for Victoria at just 17, captaining at 20 – White quickly made a name for himself as a versatile right-hand batter and crafty leg-spinner.

It didn’t take long before he was donning the Australian colours where he racked up 3000 runs in the short form.

In the Big Bash, White’s impact has been felt across four clubs as both player and coach. But it has been the Renegades where White really made his mark.

His on-field brilliance and leadership then were game-changers, and now returns to guide the ‘Gades from the dugout.

White replaces former senior coach David Saker who departed the Club in May.
