Clarke returned to the Melbourne Stars after being drafted at Pick 10 in the inaugural Overseas BBL Player Draft, after making his debut for the club in BBL|11.

Clarke was again deployed at the top of the order and finished the season with 381 runs at a strike rate of over 124. He scored the 6th most runs in the competition.

His greatest highlight was an unbeaten century at the MCG against the Hurricanes in December, on the same night that the club recognised the contribution and impact of Shane Warne on the club.
