It wasn’t to be for a couple of Stars on the world stage over the past week.

In the inaugural WPL Final held in the early hours of Monday morning, Meg Lanning‘s Delhi Capitals, which included Alice Capsey and Jemi Rodrigues fell agonisingly short of the WPL title, falling to the Mumbai Indians. Delhi, coached by Jonathan Batty, won the toss and elected to bat first. Lanning made 35 at the top of the order but they never got their innings going and made 9/131 which Mumbai chased down with 3 balls to spare, thanks largely to former Star, Nat Sciver-Brunt who made 60 from 55 and was named player of the match.

Campbell Kellaway was part of the Victorian side that fell short in the Sheffield Shield Final to Western Australia. Despite finishing runners-up for the second consecutive year, Kellaway can be proud of his efforts, making his Big Bash, Shield and One Day debuts this summer.

Marcus Stoinis was a solid contributor with bat and ball as he was part of the Australian team that defeated India in the third and final ODI in Chennai.

He will be one of 3 Stars to compete in this year’s IPL which begins on Saturday, along with Glenn Maxwell (Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Trent Boult (Rajastan Royals).
