The Melbourne Stars Academy will once again be in action next week when they take part in a series involving Scotland and Namibia ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, as well as the Renegades Academy.
The tournament, run by the Rural City of Wangaratta, will be staged at the Barr Reserve Sporting District on 5th-8th October.
The Stars Academy will play both Scotland and Namibia and the event will be free for all spectators to attend.
Current Stars BBL Assistant Coach Clint McKay will again be the head coach of the Melbourne Stars Academy, which is made up of both current squad members and standout premier cricket performers.
“This is a great opportunity for the Stars Academy to test themselves against teams who are preparing for the biggest T20 international competition in the world.
“We’re looking forward to building on what we did in the Top End T20 in Darwin and seeing the next generation of cricketers emerge.”
Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch was looking forward to seeing the Melbourne Stars Academy compete against Namibia and Scotland.
“The Rural City of Wangaratta is a big part of the Stars region and we’re looking forward to getting back there after visiting a number of schools on our Super Stars Road Trip in July.
“I’m looking forward to seeing our young squad compete against two national sides ahead of what will be a huge summer of T20 cricket in Australia.”
