Fast bowler Brody Couch has signed a two year contract extension with the Melbourne Stars.

After finding his way onto the Stars list for BBL|11, the young quick burst onto the scene in his debut season, taking 16 wickets in 14 games and was the Stars’ leading wicket-taker for the tournament.

Couch’s durability was also a feature of his first season, one of only two members of the Stars BBL|11 squad to play all 14 games.

Couch was thrilled to have his future locked in at the Stars.

“From the very first moment I walked into the Stars setup I just wanted to learn as much as possible from the coaching staff and elite players at the club.

“It was such a welcoming environment, I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity early in the season and I was pleased to be able to contribute to the team’s success.

“A big thank-you to the coaching staff who have shown faith in me and hopefully I’ve laid a good foundation to build on for the next few years in Green.

“A highlight of being part of the Stars Family is playing at the MCG and I can’t wait to play in front of some big crowds there in BBL|12.”

General Manager Blair Crouch was thrilled with Couch’s first season in the BBL.

“Brody proved himself to be up to the task very early in BBL|11 when he made his debut and we’re thrilled to have secured his services for the next two seasons.

“He is nothing but a professional and deserves everything that comes his way, his work ethic and attention to detail were a standout in BBL|11.

“He was duly recognised as the rookie of the year on SEN Radio and we’re looking forward to having Brody part of the Stars family for at least the next two years.”

Current BBL|12 squad: Joe Burns, Hilton Cartwright, Brody Couch, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Liam Hatcher, Clint Hinchliffe, Nick Larkin, Glenn Maxwell, Billy Stanlake, Marcus Stoinis, Beau Webster, Adam Zampa
