The Melbourne Stars are pleased to confirm the appointment of Jarrad Loughman as WBBL Head Coach.
Loughman has been a member of the Stars family since the inception of the BBL, having most recently served as Fielding Coach for the BBL team.
He replaces Trent Woodhill who resigned from the role earlier this month.
“The Melbourne Stars have been a fantastic part of my life for a number of years now and I’m honoured by the opportunity to lead our WBBL team,” Loughman said.
“Trent did a great job with the squad last season and I’m looking forward to building upon the progress we made in WBBL|06.
“We’ve got a great mix of established senior players, led by our captain Meg Lanning, and also an emerging group of young players that are improving every day. I can’t wait to work with all of them and give the Stars fans plenty to cheer about in the coming seasons.”
Loughman has built a diverse and decorated cricketing resume since joining Cricket Victoria in 2008.
He started as a Game Development Officer before becoming a Regional Cricket Manager and then Coach Education Manager. Along the way he coached Richmond to a 1st XI premiership in Victoria’s male Premier Cricket competition.
In recent years Loughman has led Cricket Victoria’s Academy including the Under-17, Under-19 & 2nd XI programs.
“Jarrad is a highly talented coach with a vast array of coaching experiences that have him well-prepared for the role,” interim Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch said.
“Our WBBL squad showed what they’re capable of last season and we’re excited to see where Jarrad can take the group in WBBL|07.”
