The Stars will host 4 massive games at the MCG in the new 10-game home and away fixture.
The Melbourne Stars will open BBL|13 against last year’s finalists, the Brisbane Heat on Thursday, 7th December at the Gabba, before returning to Melbourne to welcome BBL|12 champions, the Perth Scorchers at the MCG on Wednesday, 13th December.
It marks the first for four marquee home matches at the MCG this summer, in what is a shortened, fast paced, BBL season.
As announced yesterday, the Stars will travel to Albury to host the Sydney Thunder on Saturday, 23rd December in the first ever Border Bash for BBL points before an away leg after Christmas, which sees matches against the Sydney Sixers, Hobart Hurricanes and concludes with the Adelaide Strikers on New Year’s Eve.
Melbourne will be the best place to be in January as the Stars host three massive home games including the biggest match of the BBL season, the Melbourne Derby on Tuesday, 2nd January.
The second Melbourne Derby will take place at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, 13th January.
Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch said there is so much to be excited about the shortened BBL|13 fixture.
“It’s a huge opening to the season for the club as we face both of last year’s finalists and we can’t wait to see everyone at the MCG for the first time this summer on Wednesday, 13th December.
“We’re looking forward to seeing as many of our members and fans as possible in Albury as the Border Bash returns against the Thunder and we’d like to thank AlburyCity for their support of this match.
“Again we’ll be striving to be the most accessible club in Australia with the return of the Super Stars Smash on the MCG before home games, open training sessions, our BBL Superclinic on the MCG, Family Day at Casey Fields plus many more members-exclusive experiences.
“It’s a great time to be a Stars fan and with more exciting squad announcements and the BBL Overseas Player Draft to come, there’s no better time to sign up to be a part of the action this summer which will be bigger and better than ever.”
