The Stars second-leading wicket taker has committed for WBBL|09.

Tasmanian off spinner Sasha Moloney has committed to the Stars for WBBL|09.

Moloney enjoyed her best ever return with the ball last season after crossing from the Hurricanes, taking 20 wickets from 14 matches, second only to WBBL|08 Player of the Season, Annabel Sutherland.

Moloney proved her ability as a three-dimensional cricketer with several strong cameos with the bat in the lower order and her ever reliable set of hands and energy in the field.

Moloney’s experience is highly valued by the club, said General Manager Blair Crouch.

“Sasha’s ability to come in and make an instant impact both on the field and off it was ultra impressive last year.

“She immediately won the respect of the group and her leadership skills were on full display as a valuable sounding board for stand-in captain Nicole Faltum.

“Sasha will again be a valuable asset for us this season as we look to push for finals for the first time since WBBL|06.”

Moloney said:

“I loved my first season with the Stars and can’t wait to get back to Melbourne this season.

“Having a standalone home game at the MCG is something I never imaged would happen in my career and I cannot wait to run out there.

“This squad has plenty of improvement left in us and we want to be there at the business end of WBBL|09.”
