Left arm wrist spinner Hamish McKenzie has signed with the Melbourne Stars for the next two seasons.
The 24-year-old played 4 BBL games for the Perth Scorchers in BBL|13 and took 2/12 against the Stars last year at the MCG.
McKenzie has worked his way through WA district cricket and earned his first WA contract ahead of the 2022-23 season.
He joins fellow West Australians Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, Joel Paris and Brody Couch as part of the Stars’ BBL|14 squad.
“I can’t wait to get over to Melbourne this summer and be part of the Stars lineup,” McKenzie said.
“There are a number of guys from WA in the squad already who are all great leaders so I’m looking forward to learning a lot and helping the Stars push towards finals.”
Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch said:
“Hamish provides a point of difference with his left arm unorthodox spin and we feel he can play a vital role for us this season.
“The squad is coming together really nicely, we’ll add another 2 players in the draft along with Tom Curran, we’ve got our Academy playing a number of matches and our squad should be finalised by the end of September.”
