Ahead of the BBL Overseas Player draft on Sunday, the Melbourne Stars have secured the signing of Brisbane Heat fast bowler Mark Steketee.

A constant for the Brisbane Heat since BBL|03, Steketee has played 69 games and taken 88 wickets in that time, having been on the fringe of Australian selection.

“We identified Mark as a target to further strengthen our fast-bowling stocks and we can’t wait to see what he can do at the MCG,” said Melbourne Stars General Manager, Blair Crouch.

“He has been a consistent wicket taker in the BBL over a number of years now and he’ll bring a lot of valuable experience and cricket IQ to the group.”

Steketee joins fellow Queenslander Joe Burns as a member of the Stars BBL|13 squad.

“I’d like to thank the Heat for the last 10 years, but I can’t wait to head to Melbourne this summer and link up with the Stars,” said Steketee.

“I already know a number of the guys in the squad and to be able to play at the MCG in BBL|13 will be a huge thrill.”

Current BBL|13 Squad: Scott Boland, Joe Burns, Brody Couch, Hilton Cartwright, Sam Harper, Nick Larkin, Glenn Maxwell, Joel Paris, Mark Steketee, Marcus Stoinis, Beau Webster
