The Melbourne Stars have secured the signing of Irish international star Kim Garth ahead of WBBL|07.

Having previously played for the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers, the exciting seamer joins Team Green and will bring a wealth of experience to the Stars.

Garth has vast international experience and accolades to her name, earlier this year recognised as Ireland’s women’s cricketer of the decade.

Committing to the Stars for WBBL|07, Garth said she was excited for the upcoming season.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time in Melbourne since making the permanent move to Australia. Over the last few years, the club has had a great balance of quality young players and world class talent and I am excited about our prospects for the upcoming season.”

Melbourne Stars WBBL Head Coach Jarrad Loughman said he was looking forward to Garth linking up with the squad.

“Kim is a tough competitor who has proven through her previous seasons in the WBBL and at international level, that she is going to be really valuable to our group,” Loughman said.

“The result last year in the final wasn’t what we would have hoped for, however with players like Meg Lanning and Annabel Sutherland committed along with Kim, we are starting to build a strong squad that can go one better in WBBL|07.”

Melbourne Stars Interim General Manager Blair Crouch said he can’t wait for the summer of cricket to begin.

“Kim is already part of Victoria’s state squad and knows many of our playing group very well. It’s great to have Kim on board with the Stars and to bring in someone who has achieved what she has in the game,” Crouch said.
