One of the brightest young talents in Australian Cricket, Annabel Sutherland has put pen to paper on a new deal that will see her remain at the Stars until at least the end of WBBL|11.The All Rounder has been a part of the Melbourne Stars since WBBL|02 and is the club’s all-time leading wicket taker.

In WBBL|08, Sutherland took her game to a new level, selected in the Team of the Tournament for the first time and named the Melbourne Stars Player of the Season.

General Manager Blair Crouch said Sutherland’s was a key signature for the Stars.

“Annabel is an incredibly talented cricketer and there is no ceiling on what she can achieve over the next three seasons and beyond.

“Despite her age, she is one of our most experienced players and I look forward to seeing her share her knowledge with our young group.”

Sutherland said keeping the young Stars core group together was a key motivation for her signing.

“I couldn’t be happier to be with the Stars for another three years, we’ve built on previous years and I think last year was a big step in the right direction.

“We were very close to finals last year but I think with the way the team is growing, this team can achieve anything.”
