Former Afghanistan National Player Mr. Mirwais Ashraf has been appointed as the new Board Member and (Acting) Chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board effective 06 Nov. 2021. Based on the decree No: 199 of the PM of Afghanistan, HE Mr. Mohammad Hassan Akhond, Mr. Mirwais Ashraf has replaced Mr. Azizullah Fazli as the new acting chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Ashraf will be the acting chairman of the ACB unit annual general meeting (AGM) which is set to be conducted by the respected Board Members. Following ACB constitution & international standards, the respected board members will elect the new chairman through transparent voting process in the AGM.
Ashraf served Afghanistan Cricket Board in different capacities including regional coach and very recently as Chief Selector for ACB.
Mirwais Ashraf, who served as national player from 2009 till 2016, was considered as one of the most successful bowling all-rounders in Afghanistan cricket. He is a well-known Afghan cricketer who has represented his country in 46 ODIs and 25 T20Is. He has 46 ODI, 14 T20I and 51 First Class wickets to his name.
Afghanistan Cricket Board congratulates and welcomes Mr. Mirwais Ashraf as the new acting Chairman of the ACB as well as appreciates the efforts of the ex-chairman Mr. Azizullah Fazli, and wishes him all the very best for his future endeavors.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the governing body for cricket in Afghanistan. It joined the ICC in 2001, became an associate member in 2013, and a full member in 2017. The ACB is also part of the Asian Cricket Council.
