Mumbai Indians: Viacom18 wins digital streaming rights for Tata IPL

BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced that Viacom18 have won the digital rights for the Tata Indian Premier League for the 2023-2027 cycle.

“Viacom18 bags digital rights with its winning bid of Rs 23,758 cr. India has seen a digital revolution & the sector has endless potential. The digital landscape has changed the way cricket is watched. It has been a big factor in the growth of the game & the Digital India vision,” Shah confirmed on social media.

At the IPL media rights auction, potential bidders were battling for four packages. Package A was TV rights, which was bagged by Star India for a value of Rs 23,575 crore. The deal is for 410 IPL matches across five seasons.

Viacom18 won digital rights for India, Australia, the United Kingdom and South Africa.

The company paid a total amount of Rs 23,758 crore for the rights.

Meanwhile, Times Internet have won the digital streaming rights for MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and the USA.

From 2008 to 2017, Sony were the broadcasters of the Indian Premier League, while Star India took over the global broadcasting and digital media rights in 2017.
