As Cricket Scotland continues to go through significant period of change and work towards building a stronger, fairer future for the sport, the organisation has made a number of new appointments and is looking to fill several vacancies.

Cricket Scotland welcomes Zain Muhammad in his appointment as Wicketz Development Officer. Zain, who has previously worked as a support coach for the Glasgow Wicketz Hubs and is a graduate in BSc (Hons) Sports and Exercise Science, will be central to developing the Wicketz programme across Glasgow.

The trail blazing scheme, in partnership with Lord’s Taverners, delivers free year-round cricket sessions to young people living in areas with high levels of poverty to break down barriers to accessing sport, teach vital life skills and drive social inclusion and engagement.

Elsewhere, Toby Bailey has been appointed as Interim Head of Performance – a new strategic role for the organisation that sits on the Cricket Scotland’s leadership team. This position represents, oversees and manages all high performance activities, providing direct leadership and accountability for the performance department.

Toby brings a wealth of experience in his previous role as National Performance Coach, which will be back-filled on a part-time basis over a fixed term ending in October to cover the National A Team and Performance Academy Squads training and fixture programme.

Elsewhere, Cricket Scotland is looking to fill a number of vacancies and the recruitment process for a new permanent CEO is ongoing.

Other roles currently being recruited for include an Interim Women’s National Team Assistant Coach, Men’s U19s Head Coach and a Finance and Administration Officer. Details and deadlines for these posts can be viewed on the Vacancies Page.

Cricket Scotland welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds. The organisation is particularly keen to encourage applications from ethnically and culturally diverse communities, women and disabled people – who are currently under-represented within Cricket Scotland.

Interim Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland, John Lunn, said: “Cricket Scotland’s mission is to promote, grow, support and govern Scottish cricket at all levels and we are delighted to welcome passionate individuals into roles across the organisation that will support the sport, from grassroots participation level through to high performance.

“Cricket Scotland is at a hugely critical juncture in terms of future direction of the organisation and having the right people in place will help us continue to improve across the board. We are keen to hear from applicants of all backgrounds to help ensure the organisation best represents those who are passionate about the game.

“Interim roles allow us to fill immediate gaps and keep as much continuity as possible until we have a permanent CEO and Chair in place and we are able to review the specific recommendations which come out of the ongoing independent review into racism.”
