The New Zealand national cricket team, known as the Black Caps, made their Test debut in 1930 against England in Christchurch, becoming the fifth nation to play Test cricket. After waiting 26 years for their first Test win against the West Indies in 1956, they also played their first ODI in 1972–73 against Pakistan. New Zealand are the inaugural World Test Championship champions (2021) and have won the ICC Champions Trophy (2000). They have reached the Cricket World Cup final twice and the T20 World Cup final once.

New Zealand Cricket has received Government approval to proceed with plans to host international touring sides this summer, in line with official health protocols and beginning with the West Indies and Pakistan’s men’s teams in November, December and January. Media is invited to register for a Zoom conference with NZC chief executive David White at 11am this morning to discuss details of the Managed Isolation and Quarantine arrangements. Please lodge your expression of interest with me (richard.boock@nzc.nz or +64 21-626208). A press conference to announce the details of the upcoming summer’s international and Super Smash schedule (dates, venues and games) will be held early next week, with an advisory to be issued on Monday.
