Kail Khalid of Al Turki NMC and Shakeel Ahmad of IT Works walked away with the best batsman and best bowler awards for the Premier Division season 2020-21 while Zeeshan Siddiqui (best batsman) and Aqil Khan (best bowler) won the top awards for A Division at a prize ceremony held by Oman Cricket at OC Ground One in Amerat on Monday.
Sarco’s Sandip Patel received the consolation prize for his brilliant bowling during the season.
The prizes were presented by Oman Cricket Board Directors including Madhu Jesrani, OC Secretary, Kiran Asher, Treasurer, Dilip Mehta and Anil Khimji, Director, Khimji Ramdas, in the presence of Duleep Mendis, Chief Development Officer, Oman Cricket.
Premier Division League champion Muscat CT was awarded the winner’s trophy while the runner-up prize went to Al Turki NMC.
A Division topper Arabian Region Travel and Tourism (ARTT) was awarded the winner’s trophy while Sarco received the runner-up prize.
In a mood to acknowledge the top performers of the season 2020-21, Oman Cricket also presented awards to Omani players who had an excellent season. OCT Al Hail dominated the evening, claiming most of the top awards.
Of Omani players representing one team, Khalid Rahim of OCT Al Hail B was adjudged best batsman while his team mates Samir Faizu and Suhaib Abdul Ghani received the best bowler and best all-rounder awards respectively. Sharing the honour, Warith Al Balushi of OCT Maabela was also presented best all-rounder award for his excellent performance with the bat and ball.
Representing two teams, Rafiq Mohammed won the best batsman award playing for OCT Al Nahdha and Orient Travels. Zubair Ali Akbar (OCT Ruwi/Y Horizon) and Shuaib Ismail (OCT Ruwi/Maniz Azad) claimed best bowler and best all-rounder awards.
