The Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), founded in 1967 by former England fast bowler Fred Rumsey as the Cricketers' Association, represents past and present first-class cricketers in England and Wales. In the 1970s, the PCA established a standard employment contract and minimum wage for professional cricketers. It also helped create a pension scheme in 1995 and launched the magazine All Out Cricket and the ACE UK Educational Programme in 2002.

Jos Buttler tops the MVP Rankings in ODI cricket this summer.

Jos Buttler has won the 2022 Royal London ODI Player of the Summer award after ending the campaign in first position, statistically.

The new England white-ball captain had an impressive summer with the bat and behind the stumps. Buttler played a major part in England breaking their own world record after scoring a blistering career best in a total of 498. Buttler takes the trophy from Saqib Mahmood who secured the 2021 award thanks to his outstanding contribution against Pakistan.

The Royal London ODI Player of the Summer is selected by the PCA Most Valuable Player Rankings. The formula enables players to score or lose MVP points on every ball based on their expected performance for that ball in comparison to CricViz’s extensive historical database of 50-over fixtures, with the venue being played at also taken into account.

Scoring 373 runs at an average of 62.2 with a strike rate of 130 and taking eight catches, a stumping and a run out, Buttler is a worthy winner of the award securing 75 points on the ODI MVP table.

Buttler scored an incredible 162* with a strike rate of 231.4 with seven fours and 14 sixes against the Netherlands in the first ODI of the summer as England piled on 498 and won by 232 runs.

The England wicketkeeper scored 86 off 64 balls in the second ODI against the Netherlands, smashing seven fours and five sixes.

The 31-year-old also scored 60 and took two catches in the third Royal London ODI against India.

Buttler picked up a Match MVP award in the second Royal London ODI against South Africa, scoring 19 with the bat and taking a catch, a run out and a stumping with the gloves.

David Willey came second on the rankings with 64 points, thanks to taking 11 wickets at 22.3 and scoring 101 runs at 25.3 with a strike rate of 91.

The all-rounder picked up the most Match MVP awards with three across the summer. In the second ODI against the Netherlands, Willey picked up 16 points for his 2-46 and a catch, he also took 4-36 in the final ODI in Holland.

Jason Roy came third in the rankings with 62 MVP points, scoring 296 runs at an average of 42.3 with one hundred.

Roy’s most impressive knock of the summer coming in the final ODI in the Netherlands scoring 101* with a strike rate of 117 and taking a catch to earn 22 MVP points.

Reece Topley earnt 59 points in the rankings thanks to some great performances with the ball.

The left-arm seam bowler took 13 wickets at a brilliant average of 16.4 including a record breaking six-fer.

Topley won the Match MVP award in the second ODI against India taking the best figures of an England bowler in ODI cricket with 6-24 earning him 22 points. He also picked up the award in the third game taking 3-35.

Attention for the domestic players now turns to the Royal London Cup which starts today, Scott Borthwick will be hoping for another good campaign after winning the Royal London Cup Player of the Year last season.
