The Head of Cricket is a long-standing role, supported by a strong interest in the game from the student intake from Reception through to Year 13. The School is ambitious for its most successful cricketers – some of whom go on to play at full County level- while also encouraging of the students who simply want to enjoy the sport at a recreational level. Within the school, the Head of Cricket will be responsible for leading a programme which will inspire pupils and staff to participate, aspire and excel, both in curriculum Games and the co-curricular programme . This will include establishing, and monitoring, an industry-leading coaching provision, and overseeing all aspects of player – and coach – development in the school. S/he/they will lead from the front. This will include managing the competition programme, and supporting logistics, ensuring that an ambitious, and appropriate, high quality experience is provided for all pupils. Establishing collaborations with other schools, clubs and performance programmes will be an important part of this.

There is an exciting opportunity to introduce new initiatives, and to further develop the game in the area. This will require the Head of Cricket to show a range of skills, including the capacity to build positive relationships with a variety of other stakeholders. Entrepreneurial ability will be important in attracting and developing new cricket activities and competitions at Valley Road and in our sports hall / nets. This includes the capacity to establish, and manage, an extensive programme of outreach activity, in support both of pupil recruitment and of the school’s charitable purpose.
