Jacks and Smith lead the Men’s and Women’s rankings for June.
The four best men’s and women’s domestic players have been announced with voting now open for the PCA’s Player of the Month award for June.
Surrey’s Will Jacks, Hampshire’s James Vince, Derbyshire’s Shan Masood and Wayne Madsen have topped the rankings for their performances in June.
South East Stars’ Bryony Smith, Southern Vipers Georgia Adams, Central Sparks’ Eve Jones and Stars’ Kalea Moore have been nominated for the Women’s award.
Men’s PCA Player of the Month
The players are selected by the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, which picks out the game’s top performers across each competition, as well as a month by month table and overall rankings.
The MVP takes into account batting, bowling and fielding contributions as well as match defining contributions using a unique algorithm developed with CricViz.
The PCA Player of the Month is decided by public vote on thepca.co.uk – with the poll closing on Saturday 2 July at 11am.
Below is a breakdown of the achievements of the top four men’s players in the table for the month of June:
Will Jacks (Surrey)
Leading the way is Surrey’s Will Jacks on the MVP Rankings for June picking up an unbelievable four Match MVP awards. The 23-year-old racked up 208 points scoring 365 runs in the Blast at an average of 40.56.
Jacks picked up three Match MVPs in the Vitality Blast and one in the LV= County Championship for his 88, 62 and 2-66 against Somerset earning him 46 points.
James Vince (Hampshire)
Hampshire’s skipper who had a phenomenal month amassing 193 points finds himself second in the rankings. The 31-year-old scored 481 runs in the Vitality Blast at an average of 80.17 picking up two Match MVP awards.
Against Kent Vince scored 100 off 54 balls with nine fours and five sixes earning him 37 points and against Somerset he scored an incredible 129 not out off 62 balls with 10 sixes.
Shan Masood (Derbyshire)
April’s Player of the Month is in contention to win the award again and sits third in the MVP for the month with 192 points. The 32-year-old scored 419 in the Vitality Blast at an average of 46.5 in June picking up three Match MVP awards.
Masood scored 73 off 32 balls against Leicestershire at a strike rate of 228 earning him the Match MVP award and 31 points. He also earned a Match MVP in the LV= County Championship scoring 49 and 98 against Middlesex.
Wayne Madsen (Derbyshire)
Madsen sits fourth in the table with 181 MVP points for June. The 38-year-old scored 318 runs in the Vitality Blast in June scoring three fifties, including 73 off 37 balls against Northamptonshire Steelbacks.
He also enjoyed success in the LV= County Championship scoring 287 runs at an average of 95.6 which included 62 and 49 not out against Middlesex and 176 vs Sussex.
Women’s PCA Player of the Month
The conclusion of the Charlotte Edwards Cup was the only competitive domestic cricket in June with Central Sparks’ Amy Jones picking up the Charlotte Edwards Cup Player of the Year award and a cheque for £2,500 after scoring 289 runs at a strike rate of 137 in the competition.
However, she couldn’t prevent Southern Vipers beating her Central Sparks side in the final by six wickets to take home the first silverware of the season.
To give you an idea of which of the Women’s PCA members to vote for, below is a quick glance at the four nominee’s achievements in June:
Bryony Smith (South East Stars)
Bryony Smith tops the MVP for June with an impressive 56 points. The South East Stars’ captain averaged 24.67 with the bat and took six wickets with the ball.
Fantastic figures of 4-14 against Central Sparks wasn’t quite enough to win the Match MVP but 50 and 2-17 against Sunrisers gave her 30 points and the Match MVP award.
Georgia Adams (Southern Vipers)
Adams amassed 50 MVP points in the month including a Match MVP against Northern Diamonds where she scored 47 and earned 29 of those points.
The Southern Vipers skipper led her team to the Charlotte Edwards Cup Trophy beating Central Sparks by six wickets in the final taking figures of 1-16 off her four overs.
Eve Jones (Central Sparks)
Jones secured an impressive 46 MVP points in the rankings for June. Scoring 131 runs at an average of 32.75.
The highlight coming as she scored 69 off 62 balls with six fours and two sixes as Central Sparks beat Sunrisers by three runs.
Kalea Moore (South East Stars)
Moore sits fourth in the June table, scoring 42 MVP points. The South East Stars all-rounder took figures of 3-4 against Western Storm in the Charlotte Edwards Cup group stage.
She also earnt a Match MVP awards for her 34 and 2-20 against Central Sparks in the play-off which gained her 19 points.
