THE CLUB

Blackheath Cricket Club is one of the leading cricket clubs in London. Formed over one hundred and fifty years ago and sporting a colourful history, Blackheath fields 6 league teams every Saturday, up to 3 teams on a Sunday and also operates an extensive youth section.

The 1st XI play in the Premier Division of the Kent Cricket League, which is one of the strongest amateur cricket leagues in the UK. The Club’s 2nd and 3rd XIs also play in the Kent League structure, while the 4th, 5th and 6th XIs play in the Kent Regional League – often against the 1st or 2nd XIs of other clubs.

Since 1886, the Club’s main ground has been the Rectory Field. The Club also has an attractive, high-quality second ground at the old Royal Military Academy in Woolwich.

The Club’s six Saturday XIs, Sunday teams, midweek programme, youth section and vibrant social scene mean there is a place for everyone from current internationals to the youngest colt. We seek to enable all our members to play at the appropriate level of cricket for their ability, while enjoying the social and cricketing benefits of being part of a larger club.

Blackheath has one of the leading youth sections in the UK, regularly progressing to the latter stages of the ECB National U13 and U15 Cup competitions. As an ECB Focus Club with Clubmark accreditation and a wealth of experienced coaches, Blackheath provides an environment where young people can enjoy the game recreationally but also supports a steady stream of young people to access county age-group squads.

Blackheath Cricket Club is situated in the London Borough of Greenwich but serves much of central south and east London. As such, the Club prides itself on a diverse membership. We are proud that so many players – from all corners of the UK, and from all around the world – can call the Rectory Field “Home”.

THE ROLE

  • Salary/Rate of Pay: £27-30,000 per annum
  • Contract Type: 1 Year Fixed Term
  • Location: London Boroughs of Greenwich/Lewisham
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week (some flexibility towards working hours required)

We are seeking candidates for the Head Coach role of our new youth academy at Blackheath Cricket Club.

The post will focus on the technical, tactical, and personal development of our most talented young cricketers but will also encompass a supportive role in Blackheath CC’s wider youth section and out-reach work in the local community through partnership with a thriving local charity that aims to bring more young people into cricket.
The post will also encompass a playing responsibility for Blackheath CC in League and Cup fixtures, which we view as an important opportunity to further support the development and progression of our best young players.

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS Check and all relevant Safeguarding and First Aid Qualifications
  • Be passionate about improving young cricketers from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Have professional/First Class playing experience (or an established record in League/Minor County Cricket)
  • Be based in, able to travel readily to, or willing to move to, South/East London
