The Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), founded in 1967 by former England fast bowler Fred Rumsey as the Cricketers' Association, represents past and present first-class cricketers in England and Wales. In the 1970s, the PCA established a standard employment contract and minimum wage for professional cricketers. Role Title: Grayswood Cricket Club Head Coach

Location: Grayswood, West Surrey

Remuneration: £6,000 base with the opportunity to increase significantly with additional opportunities

Cricket Club information:

Grayswood CC is a successful and progressive cricket club based in Grayswood, West Surrey. The Club has 4 Adult teams in the I’Anson League, a Sunday XI, Women’s Team, Girls, and mixed age groups from Under 9 to 19. The Club also hosts All Stars and Dynamos Cricket.

The Role and Opportunity

We are looking to appoint a UK Based Head Coach to play a key role in developing our players. The role will involve working with Adult and Junior players pre-season and during the season, as well as being the catalyst for invigorating our Junior section across all age groups. The person will develop and strengthen the Club’s playing members across all ages and gender and help grow youngsters that will play cricket their whole life.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver, with available coaching resource, indoor pre-season Junior coaching;
  • Develop and deliver Junior, Women and Girls summer coaching plan, with the available coaching resource, with the focus on consistent quality and progression;
  • Develop and deliver progressive Adult coaching to supplement net sessions;
  • Assist with All Stars and Dynamos Cricket sessions;
  • Encourage eligible Juniors to participate the pathway to Adult cricket;
  • Develop and execute a Junior and Girls player retention strategy;
  • Participate in the weekly selection process for Adult matches;
  • Mentor and support Club Coaches;

Additional Opportunities

The Head Coach will have the opportunity to supplement his/her income with offerings to all members. The Head Coach will receive all income from these options with no deductions made by the Club. The Club will actively facilitate and support and advertise any initiatives that the Head Coach will want to arrange.

  • One2one coaching sessions (use of Bowling Machine available);
  • Individual coaching and development plans;
  • Delivery of Master Classes;
  • Easter and/or Summer Holiday camps;
  • Annual Bonus payments subject to agreed targets being met;

Coaching Timetable (This timetable may be tweaked with input from the Head Coach)

  • From Feb 2022 Half-term: Under 9 to 12 Indoor coaching for 10 weeks;
  • Mondays: No Coaching, nets, and outfield available;
  • Tuesday: 4 to 6pm nets and outfield available; 6 to 8pm Under 19 and Adult nets and outfield coaching for 20 weeks;
  • Wednesday: 4 to 6pm nets and outfield available; 6:30 to 8pm Women’s coaching for 13 weeks;
  • Thursday: 4 to 6pm nets and outfield available; 6:30 to 8pm U15 and U17 coaching for 13 weeks;
  • Friday: 4 to 6pm All Stars and Dynamos Cricket sessions; 5:30 to 8pm U9 and U13 coaching for 13 weeks;
  • Saturday: 9:00 to 11am nets and outfield available if no Junior matches;
  • Sunday: 2 to 8pm nets and outfield available if there are no matches;

Professional Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum ECB Level 2 Coaching Qualification (or equivalent);
  • Ability to motivate and positively influence club cricketers, coaches, and teams;
  • A passion for working with children and/or young people aged 5 – 17-year-olds;
  • Experience working with both boys and girls;
  • Professional and punctual;
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults in an amateur environment;
  • A willingness to liaise with parents, delivering high quality customer service;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Head Coach must be an ECBCA Member, and hold First Aid and the relevant Child Protection Certificates.
