The Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), founded in 1967 by former England fast bowler Fred Rumsey as the Cricketers' Association, represents past and present first-class cricketers in England and Wales. In the 1970s, the PCA established a standard employment contract and minimum wage for professional cricketers. It also helped create a pension scheme in 1995 and launched the magazine All Out Cricket and the ACE UK Educational Programme in 2002.

MVP winners Georgia Adams and Liam Dawson lead rankings for September.

You can now vote for your final Players of the Month for 2023 as the top four men’s and women’s domestic players have been announced using the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings.

Hampshire all-rounder, Liam Dawson, came top of September’s MVP table by an impressive 37 points. Middlesex batter Sam Robson found himself in second place with Dawson’s teammate James Vince in third following strong finished to the season. Derbyshire’s Luis Reece completes a competitive top four in the September vote.

For the women’s award, Southern Vipers skipper Georgia Adams tops the rankings again after winning Player of the Month in August and completing the domestic double with victory in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. Two 19-year-olds are in second and third place in Sunrisers all-rounder Grace Scrivens and Thunder’s Olivia Bell. Adams’ Southern Vipers teammate Linsey Smith has enjoyed a brilliant month with the ball and finalises September’s nominees.

The players are selected by the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by Argentex, which picks out the game’s top performers across every single fixture which forms the rankings for each competition, as well as an overall table which is how the top four is selected. The MVP takes into account batting, bowling and fielding contributions as well as match defining contributions using a unique algorithm developed with CricViz.

The PCA Player of the Month is decided by public vote on thepca.co.uk – with the poll closing on 6 October at 10am.

Men’s PCA Player of the Month

The month of September saw the culmination of the LV= Insurance County Championship as Surrey lifted the title in consecutive years with Durham and Worcestershire gaining promotion to Division One.

Liam Dawson (Hampshire)

Hampshire’s all-rounder Dawson enjoyed a phenomenal end to the season in the LV= Insurance County Championship, earning a massive 163 MVP points.

The 33-year-old scored 339 runs at an average of 56.5, including two hundreds and took 21 wickets at 24.2 with the ball.

The Men’s Domestic Overall MVP winner also won three Match MVPs during the month against Somerset, Essex and Surrey.

Dawson’s most impressive performance came against Essex when he earned 56 MVP points after taking five wickets in the match and scoring 119 in the second innings.

Sam Robson (Middlesex)

Middlesex opener Robson finished second on the rankings with 126 MVP points to his name.

The 34-year-old scored an impressive 355 runs at an average of 59.2 including two hundreds and took six wickets at 20.6 with his leg-breaks.

The right-handed batter earned a Match MVP award against Nottinghamshire and 51 MVP points for his unbeaten innings of 105 and figures of 4-46 in the second innings.

He also scored another unbeaten century against Warwickshire and carried his bat for 107 as his team were dismissed around him.

James Vince (Hampshire)

Hampshire skipper Vince enjoyed another strong month earning 99 MVP points on September’s rankings.

The 32-year-old scored 302 runs at an average of 50.3. Against Essex, Vince scored 46 off 45 balls in the first innings and 89 off 111 in the second innings which included seven fours and two sixes as Hampshire won by three wickets.

Vince also helped his side to a 185-run victory over Somerset scoring 34 and 63 alongside taking two catches.

Luis Reece (Derbyshire)

Derbyshire opener Reece produced a fantastic September earning 96 points on the MVP table.

The 33-year-old amassed an incredible 421 runs in the LV= Insurance County Championship, alongside taking two wickets.

The left-handed batter managed to win two Match MVP awards during the month earning 21 points against Sussex for his 86 in a rain-effected draw.

Against Glamorgan, Reece produced the highest individual MVP points score of the month with 57, thanks to two outstanding innings. His 139 in the first innings was followed up with an unbeaten 119 in the second.

Women’s PCA Player of the Month

To help make your decision on who to vote for in the women’s category, below is a quick glance at the four nominee’s achievements in September as Southern Vipers completed the domestic double winning the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

Georgia Adams (Southern Vipers)

Southern Vipers skipper captained her side to the domestic double after winning the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in September and earning 96 MVP points.

The 30-year-old accumulated 281 runs at an average of 56.2 alongside taking eight wickets at 25 a-piece.

The off-spinning all-rounder claimed a Match MVP award against Thunder and 32 MVP points for her innings of 71 off 70 balls, two catches and figures of 2-41.

Adams scored 39 and took 2-43 in the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy as her side won by five wickets against The Blaze.

Grace Scrivens (Sunrisers)

Sunrisers youngster Scrivens impressed during September finishing in the top four players for the month for the first time this season, earning 63 MVP points on the rankings.

At just 19-years-old, the all-rounder scored 181 runs at an average of 45.3 and took four wickets averaging 25.5 in her Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy matches this month.

Scrivens produced an extremely impressive performance against The Blaze scoring 107 from 136 balls, alongside taking a catch and figures of 1-28 as Sunrisers won by 30-runs.

Olivia Bell (Thunder)

Another 19-year-old finds herself nominated for the September award, this time Thunder’s Bell claims a spot in the top four by securing 58 MVP points.

The pace-bowler took 14 wickets during September with an unbelievably impressive average of just 9.3.

Winning the Match MVP against Western Storm, Bell earned 17 points for figures of 10 overs, four maidens, 3-30, which included dismissing the Storm’s top three batters.

Bell also bowled brilliantly against Northern Diamonds taking 4-32 and South East Stars claiming 4-23.

Linsey Smith (Southern Vipers)

The Vipers Smith completes the impressive top four nominees after earning 54 MVP points.

The 28-year-old scored 61 runs and took 10 wickets with a fantastic average of just 12.4.

The all-rounder produced a great performance against South East Stars, scoring 51 off 58 balls batting at seven and taking figures of 3-34 opening the bowling, helping her team win by 58 runs.

Smith took 3-30 in the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy helping the Vipers to victory.
