As many as 49 cricketers were part of the online Level-1 Umpiring course for umpires and match officials which began today. These cricketers include Pakistan internationals – Abdul Rauf, Bilal Asif and Salman Butt.

A total of 350 personnel are taking part in the course and they are being provided training by the match referees from PCB’s Elite and Supplementary panels.

The participants will be provided knowledge about the basic umpiring rules, regulations and laws of the game before undergoing written tests, fitness tests and interviews.

This initiative is part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s promise to increase the employment opportunities for former cricketers and the candidates who successfully complete the course will be eligible to officiate club and school games.

The PCB opened the registration in April for the course.
