Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Chairman Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan on Sunday at Sardar Garh to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and promoting cricket between Pakistan and the UAE.

During the meeting, Naqvi extended a warm welcome, saying, “Your visit to Pakistan is a matter of honor for us.” He praised the UAE leadership for its consistent support for Pakistan and highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations.

The discussion centered on fostering cricket’s growth and development, with both officials agreeing to collaborate on initiatives to benefit the sport. “We will work closely with the UAE to promote cricket,” Naqvi affirmed.

Naqvi invited Sheikh Nahyan to attend the Champions Trophy matches scheduled in Pakistan during February and March next year. In response, Sheikh Nahyan conveyed his best wishes for the tournament’s success and reaffirmed the UAE’s strong ties with Pakistan. “We value our relationship with Pakistan and wish you great success with the Champions Trophy,” he said.

Naqvi expressed excitement about hosting the prestigious multi-nation event, promising to make it memorable. “There is immense excitement in Pakistan about hosting the Champions Trophy. We aim to make it an outstanding and unique tournament,” he stated.

The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in Pakistan and at a neutral venue, as confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday. This arrangement is part of a broader plan where matches between India and Pakistan during ICC events in the 2024–2027 rights cycle will take place at neutral venues to ensure logistical and security feasibility.

This “fusion formula” will also apply to other major ICC tournaments, including the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Under this plan, knockout stage matches, including finals, will be held at neutral venues if India and Pakistan qualify.

Additionally, the PCB has been awarded hosting rights for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028.
