Drikus Saaiman has been appointed as the strength and condition coach of the Pakistan women’s national team. He will join the Bismah Maroof-led side in Durban for his first assignment, which is the ODI and T20I series against South Africa women early next year.
His appointment follows a robust multi-tiered recruitment process. Saaiman’s additional responsibilities will include the formulation and development of strength and conditioning programmes for women’s cricket at the regional level and play a role in the development of the coaches at this level in line with the national framework.
Saaiman, who was born in Bloemfontein in 1981, brings heaps of experience in the strength and conditioning department.
His last assignment was with Warriors, a South Africa domestic team. Since 2010, Saaiman has had stints with South Africa’s national men’s teams along with the emerging and A sides.
In 2018, he worked as a strength and conditioning and fielding coach with Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, an Mzansi Super League franchise.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), formerly the Board of Control for Cricket in Pakistan, is the governing body for cricket in Pakistan. It oversees and organizes all tours and matches for the Pakistan national cricket team. A member of the International Cricket Council since 1952, the PCB represents Pakistan’s men’s and women’s teams in international cricket tournaments.
