Southern Punjab have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in their fixture against Balochistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium in the second round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22.

In the drawn match, Southern Punjab were found two overs short of their target after taking into account time allowances and, as such, were charged under Article 2.22 of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with the minimum over-rate offences. As such, all members of the playing XI were fined PKR16,000

Southern Punjab captain Mohammad Abbas accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Mohammad Javed. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Qaiser Waheed and Aftab Gillani.

This is Southern Punjab’s second over-rate offence in the first-class season in as many matches.
