Perth Scorchers have added another new name to their pace-bowling stocks, signing Zoe Britcliffe for the upcoming Weber Women’s Big Bash League season.
Britcliffe, 22, joins the Scorchers as an Injury Replacement Player for allrounder Charis Bekker, who is unavailable because of a longstanding knee complaint.
She has performed strongly for Western Australia in four Women’s National Cricket League contests this season, taking five wickets at 25.80 while conceding just 4.44 runs an over.
Among those scalps is former Australian captain and superstar top-order batter Meg Lanning, who Britcliffe accounted for in consecutive games to start the WNCL campaign.
Hailing from Port Hedland, the South Perth seamer finished the 2021-22 WNCL season as WA’s leading wicket-taker, collecting career-best figures of 5-53 against a strong Queensland line-up.
Britcliffe adds depth to a pace attack featuring Piepa Cleary, Taneale Peschel, skipper Sophie Devine and former Sydney Sixers quick Stella Campbell.
The Scorchers begin their campaign in Launceston on Friday against Hobart Hurricanes at the University of Tasmania Stadium.
