Perth Scorchers have signed dashing left-hander Marcus Harris for the remainder of the KFC BBL|13 season.

Harris joins his former team as the local replacement player for Jhye Richarson, who was last week ruled out of the tournament with a side strain.

An opener by trade, Harris has played 50 MBBL games for Melbourne Renegades (36) and the Scorchers (14), tallying 981 runs including four half-centuries.

He has also featured in 14 Tests, handling the pace and bounce of Optus Stadium to compile an important half-century against a strong Indian bowling attack in 2018-19.

The 31-year-old Scarborough product will be available for Perth’s crucial clash with Sydney Sixers at home on Tuesday, when the chance to face Brisbane Heat in the Qualifier is up for grabs.

Quotes attributable to Perth Scorchers General Manager – High Performance and Elite Teams, Kade Harvey:

“While losing Jhye is extremely disappointing for us and him, we’re glad to recruit a player of Marcus’ quality this late in the tournament.

“We saw the need to add to our batting options with Laurie Evans and Zak Crawley unavailable for finals, and Marcus fits the bill nicely.

“He has plenty of domestic and international experience playing on a variety of surfaces, and he knows WA well having started his career in Perth. We’re pleased he’s on board for the remainder of the season.
