Perth Scorchers are proud to announce a partnership with Crown for the Club’s WBBL|09 and MBBL|13 Pride Matches.

The Scorchers’ WBBL side will face Melbourne Stars in the Crown Pride Match at the WACA Ground on Wednesday 22 November, followed by the MBBL clash against Sydney Sixers at Optus Stadium on Tuesday 16 January, as the Club celebrates diversity and inclusion across the cricket community.

Through the annual fixture in the Weber WBBL and KFC BBL, the Club continues its mission to ensure everyone is welcome in the sport, through the promotion of inclusion and increased visibility of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) community.

Crown is a proud supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community and being a naming partner for the Perth Scorchers Pride Matches is a reflection of its ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Crown Perth will host its annual Pride luncheon today and, later this month, more than 100 team members from Crown Perth and WA Cricket staff are set to march in the Perth PrideFEST Parade.

WA Cricket is committed to holding education sessions for its players and staff, while consulting regularly with the LGBTQIA+ community to guarantee meaningful engagement and progress.

WA Cricket CEO Christina Matthews said the process has empowered the Club to become a leader in equity and inclusivity.

“The establishment of these annual fixtures has been a proud moment for the organisation, as we continue to grow our legacy and impact on the game.

“Each Crown Pride Match is about inclusivity, representation and acknowledging people from LGBTQIA+ communities and their contributions to cricket.

“As leaders in diversity and inclusion, WA Cricket has a responsibility to champion inclusivity and inspire people to embrace their identities in a safe community.”
