The Perth Scorchers wish to thank Meg Lanning for her contributions to the side over the past three rebel Women’s Big Bash League seasons.Aptly nicknamed ‘Megastar’, the Scorchers skipper played a pivotal role in the team’s success over the past few seasons.

Lanning played 24 matches in the Scorchers orange and her trademark aggressive batting style saw her make 920 runs, including 20 sixes and a high score of 101.

The opening bat debuted for the team in the 2018-19 season, after spending the previous season assisting off-field while recovering from shoulder surgery.

General Manager – High Performance Kade Harvey said;

“We are obviously disappointed that Meg won’t be part of the Scorchers campaign in WBBL|06, she has been an important part of our success over the past few seasons and leaves the team on good terms and with very fond memories.

“Meg is a world class cricketer, and she’s not only kept our Members and fans entertained through her skills, but it’s also been great for our playing group to watch and learn from a player of her calibre. We wish Meg all the very best of luck at the Melbourne Stars.”
