‘Inspiring the confidence to dream big’

The Perth Scorchers will wear a unique Indigenous playing shirt designed by WA artist Kevin Bynder for their clash with the Adelaide Strikers today, Monday 23 December, at Adelaide Oval.

The top part of the design represents the tribal area of the Whadjuk area. The five circles within this represent the four youth groups and the large circle being the Elders.

The Elders are teaching the young ones about law and culture and also the customs to becoming traditional owners and leaders of their tribe.

The Elders play a key role in teaching a tradition that’s been part of this land for over 60,000. This art represents how they inspire the young ones to be better than they are.

The sides of the shirt are the up and coming young cricket players which link to the Perth Scorchers which is represented in the middle.

The pathways connect the Scorchers with the Western Australian Cricket Association, which represents the talent pathway and how players interact with the young ones to inspire and give confidence to all those who dream big to become like their idols.

The Scorchers will also wear their Indigenous themed shirt for their home match against the Sydney Thunder at Optus Stadium on January 20.
