Express quick Lance Morris has committed to Perth Scorchers until at least the end of the 2024-25 KFC Big Bash League season, signing a new two-year deal with the Club.

Regarded as one of the fastest bowlers in Australia, Morris proved a weapon for Perth when available during BBL|12, rushing batters on all surfaces while showcasing excellent control.

The 24-year-old didn’t hesitate before recommitting to Perth, believing the future is bright in WA.

“We’ve got great coaches, staff and players, and it’s a pretty exciting time to be part of the organisation,” he said.

Morris compiled the most productive MBBL campaign of his career to date, taking nine wickets in five games between stints with Australia’s Test squad.

He finished with the second-best bowling average (15.22) and strike rate (13.3) among Perth’s bowlers, while Morris’ economy rate (6.85) ranked third at the Club.

Having made his name in four-day cricket, Morris is also driven to flourish with the white ball in hand.

“I’d love to be an all-format player,” he said.

“I’m definitely striving to improve with the white ball and looking for any opportunity to better myself.”

Morris watched from India with Perth and Australia teammates Cam Green and Ashton Agar as the Scorchers secured their fifth MBBL championship in front of 53,886 screaming fans at Optus Stadium on Saturday.

“(Winning a tight match) made it even more special and summed up the season, really,” Morris said.

“We overcame a fair bit of adversity with some draftees not being available and people dropping in and out, but our squad as a whole was really strong, so it was good to see a bit of success.

“Fifty-thousand people at Optus Stadium is always going to be something that’s pretty exciting. We’re lucky to have such a loyal supporter base; we’re playing really nice cricket at the moment, and it’s good to see people turning out in droves.”

Morris joins the growing list of Scorchers re-signings, after new deals for fan favourite AJ Tye and rising star Cooper Connolly were recently announced.
