The Queensland Fire cricket team will seek to soar this summer with the backing of Brisbane Airport Corporation.
Queensland Fire players Georgia Voll, Ellie Johnston, Nicola Hancock and Zoe Cooke were on hand as the partnership was announced today, one week away from the opening rounds of the Women’s National Cricket League.
The sponsorship of the Queensland Fire builds on Brisbane Airport Corporation’s strong support of women’s sport in Queensland, which also included contributing through the Queensland Cricket Foundation to the annual Jodie Purves Young Cricketer Development Scholarship which has supported rural and regional female cricketers since 2014.
The Queensland Cricket Partnership with Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) will feature the Brisbane Airport logo on the sleeve of the Fire’s playing shirts and media polos.
Queensland Cricket General Manager – Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Pete Lock, thanked BAC for their support of women’s cricket.
“We’re excited to welcome Brisbane Airport Corporation as an Official Partner of Queensland Cricket and the Queensland Fire as Sleeve Partners and as a valued supporter in the growth and development of women’s cricket.
“The support from our corporate partners like Brisbane Airport Corporation allows us to invest in initiatives such as the Jodie Purves Scholarship, which we know can have a significant impact in the development of our young female cricketers.”
BAC’s Executive General Manager of Communications and Public Affairs, Rachel Crowley, celebrates this new partnership.
“We are beyond proud to support Queensland Cricket and its commitment to developing women’s participation from the grassroots in regional Queensland to Allan Border Field in Brisbane. We are looking forward to watching support for our Brisbane based women’s sporting teams grow, particularly in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
The Fire begin their 2023-24 summer campaign in Sydney next week against the NSW Breakers before hosting their opening round of home matches against Victoria at Peter Burge Oval at Redlands.
Queensland players will be in action this weekend in the opening rounds of the Katherine Raymont Shield women’s first grade series as part of the KFC Queensland Premier Cricket competition.
