About the role
Reporting to the CEO, the Government Relations Manager will provide political analysis and advice to facilitate strategic relationships with State and Commonwealth Governments, local councils, decision-makers, and influencers. This role will plan and implement strategies to favourably represent and promote Queensland Cricket’s (QC) interests and effectively disseminate government policy and positions in support of the organisation’s strategic goals.

Key areas of ownership include:

Advocacy and Representation
By leveraging your knowledge and understanding of current and proposed legislation and policy, you’ll build, nurture and maintain relationships with key government stakeholders. You’ll investigate and act upon opportunities to strengthen government relations and enhance QC’s profile through advocacy and representation within relevant forums. Strategic Advice
In developing an in-depth knowledge and understanding of QC programs, initiatives and opportunities, you’ll provide informed marketing, executive and research support. As a subject matter expert, you’ll inform and support QC Executive Leaders in strategic planning activities, analysing existing grants and funding, and identifying opportunities for future funding sources.

About you
You’ll bring considerable experience in a similar position, and ideally familiarity with public policy within the sports and recreation sphere. A tertiary qualification in public policy, political science, communications or similar is advantageous, but not essential. Enjoy the fun of professional sport and the rewards of contributing to your community. Take advantage of a range of employee benefits, including learning and development opportunities, flexible work arrangements, and the odd ticket to the cricket (because too much cricket is never enough).
