Tall tales from season’s past and present featuring some of the biggest names in Australian cricket and media will headline the 2022 Queensland Cricket Summer of Cricket Lunch.
Former stars Matthew Hayden and Rodney Hogg will be joined by Seven Sport’s Katie Brown and Pat Welsh as Queensland Cricket celebrates another massive season for the game in the Sunshine State, while raising funds for the Queensland Cricket Foundation.
The lunch will be held on Friday November 18 at the Queensland Cricketers’ Club, with individual tickets and tables available to be purchased here.
Almost 12 months to the date of its re-launch in October 2021, the QC Foundation has raised close to $200,000 for community cricket initiatives and charities, headlined by fundraising activity including the 2021 Summer of Cricket Lunch, Brisbane Heat Indigenous jersey auctions, the Mackay Teal Heels Ovarian Cancer Australia event, and the recently launched Buy A Picket Campaign.
Through these fundraising initiatives, the QC Foundation has supported causes, initiatives and charities including flood relief for the South Brisbane Cricket Club; a contribution to the Jodie Purves Scholarship for developing female cricketers; the donation of balls for the Battle of Black Brim Indigenous Cricket Carnival; community cricket club support through Brisbane Heat game day fundraising; and the continued donations to Ovarian Cancer Australia.
Alongside an all-star line-up of speakers and guests, the 2022 Summer of Cricket Lunch will include a premium 3-course food and beverage package while overlooking the Gabba at the QCC.
The lunch will celebrate a massive summer of cricket in Queensland that will see multiple men’s international games held across the State, the men’s and women’s BBL, the ICC T20 World Cup, and the First Test of the South African series to be held at the Gabba.
Live and silent auction items, plus raffles and merchandise will be available, with all funds raised going towards the QC Foundation and its purpose to fundraise and invest into initiatives that create positive differences in Queensland’s communities.
QC CEO Terry Svenson said: “The re-launch of the Queensland Cricket Foundation has been one of the highlights of our organisation over the past 12 months, and we are excited to welcome our partners, guests and supporters back to what will be a fantastic event.
“We are proud of the funds we have raised to date and the impact we know our work and the generosity of our many supporters will have on our communities.
“To have one of our favourite sons in Matt Hayden joined by Rodney Hogg, Pat Welsh and Katie Brown will ensure it’s another Summer of Cricket Lunch to remember.
“We hope our fans and supporters can join us in raising more funds for Queensland Cricket to invest back into the community to make our game stronger and more accessible to all Queenslanders.”
