Rahul Dravid, India’s outgoing head coach, has been referred to as the greatest Indian cricketer never to lift a world cup as a player.

After team India’s victory over South Africa in the final of the 2024 ICC T20I World Cup, players, including Rohit Sharma, expressed how happy they were to be able to win the Championship for Dravid.

In candid remarks after Dravid admitted that: “I’m not usually short of words, but I really have felt short of words the last few hours” after the win.

He also jokingly said: “Next week, everything will be the same for me. I’ll be unemployed. I’m unemployed next week… any offers please…”

He went on to say he wants to live in the moment right now. “I think it’s a great moment. I’m loving it, I don’t want to think too far ahead, but yes I hope I’ll be able to move on, and I think that’s what life is about. You do the best you can, you work really hard, and whatever falls your way you deal with it, and you move on.”
