Rohan Jaitley, the current president of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), is reportedly favored to become the next secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)

This development follows Jay Shah‘s election as chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in August. Shah will assume his new role on December 1, leaving the BCCI secretary position vacant.

Jaitley is set to compete with Anil Patel, the secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, for the BCCI secretary role. Notably, no Special General Meeting (SGM) will be convened for this appointment.

Since becoming DDCA president four years ago, Jaitley has been re-elected unopposed for another term, reflecting his effectiveness in the role.

During his tenure, Jaitley has implemented various reforms and improvements. He successfully hosted five matches of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and launched the Delhi Premier League, which featured prominent players like Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma, showcasing his administrative capabilities.

Roger Binny is expected to remain as BCCI president and work closely with the new secretary, ensuring continuity in leadership for the board’s operations. The final decision on who will succeed Shah as BCCI secretary is still pending.
