Devon Conway is set for an emotional return to his hometown after being signed by the Joburg Super Kings for Betway SA20 Season 3.
Conway, born and raised in Johannesburg, left South African shores in 2017 to pursue a playing career in New Zealand.
The stylish top-order batter has since forged a successful international career with the Black Caps, punctuated with a double century on Test debut at Lord’s.
He has played 102 matches across all formats for the Black Caps.
Known for his elegant manner in the way he caresses the ball to the boundary, Conway has been prolific in T20 Internationals, scoring 1408 runs at an average of 38.05 and strike-rate of 127.06.
He has attained even greater success in T20 franchise league cricket, amassing 6028 runs at an average of 42.15 at a strike-rate of 129.06 in 187 matches.
A large number of those runs have come in the Indian Premier League, where Conway plays for JSK’s big brother Chennai Super Kings.
The left-hander has entertained with 924 runs at an average of 48.63 and strike-rate of 141.28 across the last two seasons.
Conway will also resume his prolific opening partnership with JSK captain Faf du Plessis at the Wanderers.
The duo were in sync at the recent Major League Cricket, where they teamed for the Texas Super Kings, sharing partnerships of 109, 101 and 85 at the top of the order.

First held in the 2023 season, the league features six city-based teams. Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the first two editions of the tournament.
