The second Betway SA20 auction takes place on Wednesday, 27 September with each of the six teams still to complete their 19-players squads, which will include a Rookie for the first time.

Betway SA20 runs through how each squad is currently shaping up, and what each team will likely want from the auction. Let’s look at the Joburg Super Kings.

What they might want:

The Joburg Super Kings have changed tack for Betway SA20 Season 2. Last season JSK relied heavily on a pace-dominated attack, led by West Indian fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, in conjunction with local speedsters Gerald Coetzee, Lizaad Williams and Nandre Burger. The latter trio have been retained, but Joseph is not available in Season 2 due to international commitments. Joseph has, though, been replaced by England’s Sam Cook. The squad is though better balanced this coming season with a host of quality spinners in new signings Moeen Ali and Zahir Khan, while Aaron Phangiso has fixed his action and has been cleared to bowl again. The release of both Kyle Verreynne and Matthew Wade has, however, left JSK with only a part-time keeper in Donovan Ferreira behind the stumps. They may look to invest heavily in a dynamic keeper/batter at the auction with possibly Indian veteran Robin Uthappa a potential target.
