A squad of nine has been selected for this season’s Redbacks Pathway Academy, with a good mixture of players from Under 19 level, Premier Cricket and interstate.
The Redbacks Pathway Academy has been established to assist cricketers transition from underage State teams and Premier Cricket into senior State squads, with all members of the Academy being rookie eligible.
The Redbacks Pathway Academy for 2023/24 is:
Carl Arnold – All-rounder from Sturt
Liam Greber – Pace bowler from Port Adelaide
Seamus Keogh – Pace bowler from Port Adelaide
Harry Manenti – All-rounder from NSW
Sam Rahaley – Batter from Kensington
James Reuther – Pace bowler from West Torrens
Nick Stathoris – Pace bowler from Tea Tree Gully
Aubery Stockdale – Pace bowler from Queensland
Campbell Thompson – Pace bowler from East Torrens
SACA’s High Performance Coach Male Pathways Mark Cosgrove said it’s a really exciting squad.
“It’s a group that’s performed really well in Under 19s or performed really well at Premier Cricket,” Cosgrove said.
“We’ve brought together a group of nine in the under 23 age bracket – there are four blokes out of the 19s from last year, a couple of lads coming in from interstate and a couple of blokes from grade cricket.
“We’ll cover off batting, bowling, fielding and fitness three times a week and give them a chance to keep progressing their cricket.
“We will put more work in and hopefully get them on our list in years to come and keep progressing their cricket to hopefully play for South Australia for a long time.”
This year, the Academy players will also train alongside the Redbacks rookies once a week.
The Redbacks Pathways Academy will begin training in July.
