South Australia has produced a strong showing at the Cricket Australia National Indoor Cricket Championships, held from 17 June to 1 July in Ipswich.

Fielding female teams in the Under 14, 16, 18 and Senior competitions and male teams in the Under 16, 18 and Senior competitions as well as an Intellectual Disability team, South Australia were extremely well represented across the Championships.

This presence extended into multiple appearances in the finals, including a brilliant effort from the Intellectual Disability team to make the Grand Final, eventually finishing second to a strong Queensland side.

The open women’s team fought hard all the way to the Preliminary Final before losing a final over thriller to bring an excellent campaign to a close. The men’s side also played their way into the finals in what was their best result in recent years.

In the Junior Championships there were fantastic signs for South Australia’s future, with the Under 16 male side reaching the finals and all other male and female teams showcasing their skills in exciting indications of the strength of cricket in the southern state.

At the conclusion of the Championships, several South Australian players were rewarded with selection in Australian development squads or selection for the upcoming Indoor Cricket World Cup in Dubai.
