The South Australian Cricket Association today announces that, following discussions with the panel assembled to evaluate Women’s Premier Cricket, the following Clubs have been awarded a First-Grade license for the approaching 2022/23 season.

Kensington Cricket Club
Glenelg Cricket Club
West Torrens Cricket Club
Northern Districts Cricket Club
Sturt Cricket Club
Adelaide Cricket Club

In addition to the above Clubs, Adelaide University will be awarded a First-Grade license for the 2023/24 season. This transition to the top flight will allow the Club to build a squad capable of competing well into the future.

SACA Premier Cricket Manager Joel Cross congratulated the Clubs while continuing to look ahead.

“We are delighted to announce these licenses today and enthusiastically await the beginning of the Premier Cricket season. SACA anticipates a hard-fought, exciting summer of cricket at all levels, and we wish each team the very best as they battle for silverware across South Australia.

“SACA is committed to creating the strongest possible environment for the development of South Australian cricket, and will continue to work closely with Premier Cricket Clubs to ensure healthy and spirited competition.”

This decision is made in conjunction with the temporary by-law put in place in May, stating that Clubs are restricted from recruiting more than two players from another Women’s First-Grade Club. The Premier Cricket Committee is able to extend this by-law in due course if deemed beneficial to the competition.
